Wildfires in the Los Angeles area forced a relocation of this year’s Genesis to Torrey Pines, which is hosting a Tour event this week.

With the 10th GOLFZON Tour match complete, what began as a 12-team competition for a $150,000 grand prize is now a two-team battle.

The Genesis Invitational scheduled for Feb. 10-16 will not be played at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades.

The wildfires that have spread across Los Angeles may force the PGA Tour to postpone or relocate next month’s Genesis Invitational. As of late Thursday nearly a quarter of a million residents were forced to evacuate their residences in the greater Los Angeles area due to numerous fires in the region.

The tournament was scheduled to take place from Feb. 13 to 16 at The Riviera Country Club, which is in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Still to be determined is where the $20 million signature event, with Tiger Woods as the tournament host, will relocate for Feb. 13-16.

Golfweek has learned that the PGA Tour is in the final stages of negotiations to move the 2025 Genesis Invitational to Torrey Pines in La Jolla.

The PGA Tour said it would soon announce a new venue for the Los Angeles-area tournament, which has been staged almost exclusively at Riviera since 1973.

The PGA Tour announced on Thursday that the Genesis Invitational, Feb. 13-16 at the Riviera Country Club, will be moved because of the L.A. wildfires.
