Legislation to reduce the impact of increasingly devastating forest fires on US federal land passed the House of Representatives on Thursday as firefighters battled to tame the latest in a series of blazes threatening southern California.

Gulch Fire initially started 3:49 p.m. Jan. 7 in Los Angeles County. It has been burning on federal land managed by the United States Forest Service for five days. There is currently no information on the containment of the fire and its cause has not yet been determined.
