Luis Rubiales, the disgraced former president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, was found guilty in a Madrid court on Thursday of sexually assaulting Spain player Jenni Hermoso when he forcibly kissed her at the 2023 Women's World Cup final.

A Spanish court on Thursday convicted and fined former football chief Luis Rubiales of sexual assault over the forced kiss he gave star forward Jenni Hermoso but acquitted him of the charge of coercionProsecutors had sought a prison term of two-and-a-half years for Rubiales -- one year for sexual assault and 18 months for coercion -- for having allegedly pressured the player to downplay the incident afterwards.

The former president of the Spanish soccer federation, has been found guilty of sexually assaulting the footballer Jenni Hermoso. He was ordered to pay a fine of more than 10,000 euros.
