San Francisco city officials are investigating after three men who claimed to be from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) showed up at City Hall on Friday demanding records from offices before fleeing.

The three men, who wore DOGE shirts and MAGA hats, demanded digital records related to "alleged wasteful government spending and fraud," officials said.

That doesn’t necessarily mean the city has more rats per square mile — only that San Francisco’s rat population seems to have grown faster than those in other cities. Toronto, New York and Amsterdam ranked third, fourth and fifth, respectively. Of the cities studied, only Tokyo, New Orleans and Louisville saw decreases in population.
