New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has activated members of the National Guard to step in at prisons across the state as protests and unsanctioned strike actions conducted by corrections staff continue. Hochul's office announced that the governor signed an executive order Wednesday afternoon activating members of the New York National Guard to go to several prison facilities where corrections officers have gone on an unsanctioned strike.

A New York prison guard strike is entering its third day, and Gov. Kathy Hochul is threatening to deploy National Guard troops to restore order.
