The College of Saint Rose – 1920 – 2024
The College of Saint Rose was founded in 1920 by the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet as a Catholic college for women in Albany, New York. From its first graduating class of 19 women in 1924, more than 50,000 students have graduated from the College in the past 100 years.
About The College of Saint Rose
On September 22, 1920, the College of Saint Rose—named for the first saint canonized in the Americas, St. Rose of Lima—opened with 19 students and an eight-member faculty. A single building housed classrooms, a dining hall, a chapel, a parlor, and a library.

The first 20 official transcripts from the College are free. A $10 fee will be charged for each transcript beyond that. We do not accept transcript requests by email.

The College’s Teach-Out Plan includes teach-out agreements with accredited colleges and universities to provide program-specific pathways for Saint Rose students, enabling them to complete their degrees without interruption, loss of time, or credits.

Jun 20, 2024 · The College of Saint Rose’s Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) Accreditation and New York State Education Department Charter and degree granting authority remain in place through December 31, 2024. On June 20, 2024, MSCHE approved The College’s teach-out plan.
